Palinpalooza!

Well, the “Troopergate” report is out.  Predictably, Jeralyn Merritt tries to spin it as a major indictiment of Sarah Palin.  Despite making two posts on the subject, one of which contains substantial excerpts of the reports, she somehow manages to miss this:

Finding Two
I find that, although Walt Monegan’s refusal to fire Trooper Michael Wooten was not the sole reason he was fired by Governor Sarah Palin, it was likely a contributing factor to his termination as a Commissioner of Public Safety. In spite of that, Governor Palin’s firing of Commissioner Monegan was a proper and lawful exercise of her constitution and statutory authority to hire and fire executive branch department heads.

In fact, when somebody pointed out that firing Monegan was legal and not an abuse of power, Jeralyn responded:
you have made your point (5.00 / 1) (#73)
by Jeralyn on Sat Oct 11, 2008 at 04:00:41 AM EST
and we don’t agree. Please move on.

“We don’t agree”  That would be the royal “we” I guess.

I stand by my original assessment.  Troopergate is a big nothing-burger.

Jeralyn has moved to the alternate reality of the Obama campaign. Denial rules.

Glad I don’t bother to go there anymore. Apparently it’s not even good for a laugh anymore.

Isnt that the essential part of yellow rag slanted sleazy journalism ?? Just report the parts that back up your scurrilous argument , and ignore the facts that invalidate your position . 🙂

“We don’t agree. Move along now.”

Good grief. Jeralynn speaks from the MOUNTAIN, even if the facts prove her wrong.

How the hell does she make a living as an attorney?

What a deceitful idiot she has become.

BTD…..get your own blog, quick, before you go down with the ship.

  5. Valhalla says:

Yes it’s yellow journalism, but the creative element Jeralyn adds is to be affronted when the truth is pointed out, and to go all Red Queen ‘off with her head!’ when anyone points it out.

Republicans have been saying all along that Palin could have fired Monegan because she didn’t like the color of his hair. That is the most basic truth of the matter.

But she had GOOD reason to do it, and her political enemies in Alaska jumped in and created a tempest in a teapot.

The basics of this story, I think, actually pull people over to Sarah’s side on this.

If you can’t get rid of a cop who is LITERALLY abusing his authority, we’re in trouble.

  7. Mary says:

I seem to recall that the hypocrite named Jeralynn used to be AGAINST cops who frivolously used taser guns.

Integrity? Not anymore. She sold out when Arianna offered her that free spa treatment at the convention.

RUN, BTD. As fast as you can.

You know what else about the trooper gate report was interesting to me? It basically said that Palin’s ethical breach was in not stopping her husband Todd from complaining to govt officials about that sick sob cop Wooten. Yet Todd said that Palin had told him to knock it off and he just went ahead and kept doing it without telling her, which is his right as an individual citizen, correct?
One of the forms of sexism we’ve seen against Hillary Clinton during her campaign is her being equated with Bill Clinton, as if they were one entity. The idea that if Bill did it in the past, then Hillary is equally guilty, because a wife has no separate identity from her husband.
This is the same thing. If Todd did it, Sarah is guilty, because they are one blob.
    Pure sexism.

So true Mary, so many have speculated on when and where what happened to Jeralyn happened and I agree it was absolutely at the convention. She was a blogger of integrity until she got to Denver, found out she was an outcast and gave up all sense of decency and honesty to be part of the click again. A tragedy.
